# Spending Limits

> Allow members to send assets without full Squad approval

Spending limits let specific members or external wallets send predetermined amounts from your Squad without requiring full approval. This streamlines routine operations while maintaining security through caps on amount, token, timeframe, and destination.

Spending limits apply to transfers only. They do not apply to trading, staking, or other actions.

<Info>
  Spending limits are available on the Pro plan.
</Info>

## Add a spending limit

1. Navigate to **Settings**
2. Open the **Spending limits** tab and select **Add spending limit**
3. Configure the parameters below
4. Review and select **Initiate** to submit the proposal for approval
5. The spending limit activates once the proposal is executed

### Parameters

| Parameter | Description |
| - | - |
| **Account** | The sub-account the spenders can send from |
| **Amount** | The token and maximum amount per period. One token per spending limit |
| **Timeframe** | How often the limit resets: One-time, Daily, Weekly, or Monthly. "One-time" means the limit stays active until the full amount is used |
| **Spenders** | The Squad members or external wallets that can send without full approval. Up to 10 per spending limit |
| **Destinations (optional)** | Addresses the spenders can send to. Leave empty to allow any destination |

The available amount resets at the beginning of each new timeframe period.

## View spending limits

Active spending limits appear in two places: on the member's row on the **Members** page, and in the **Spending limits** tab in **Settings**.

## Update or remove a spending limit

1. Navigate to **Settings** and open the **Spending limits** tab
2. Find the spending limit and select the **Edit spending limit** or **Remove spending limit** icon
3. Make changes and select **Initiate** to submit the proposal for approval

Updating a spending limit replaces it and resets the amount already used.

<Info>
  Members with a spending limit can select it when [sending tokens](/app-guide/treasury/transfers/send-tokens) to send without going through the full proposal process.
</Info>

## Best practices

* **Specify destinations** to restrict sends to known addresses rather than allowing any address
* **Review regularly** and audit limits periodically to ensure they match current operations
* **Remove promptly** when members leave the organization

<Accordion title="Troubleshooting">
  | Issue | Solution |
  | - | - |
  | Member can't send with spending limit | Verify the limit is active (proposal executed), check remaining amount, and confirm the destination is allowed |
  | Available amount differs from expected | Check when the timeframe resets and review recent sends |
  | Removed member's limit still active | Check the Transactions tab for a pending removal proposal and execute it |

<Accordion title="FAQ">
  **What actions do spending limits apply to?**

  Transfers only, including crypto sends and fiat transfers. They do not apply to trading, staking, or other Squad actions.

  **How is this different from the threshold?**

  The threshold requires multiple approvals for every proposal. Spending limits let specific members bypass the threshold for routine sends up to the configured amount.

  **Can a member have multiple spending limits?**

  Yes. You can set different limits for different tokens, sub-accounts, or destinations.
