# Add Members and Change Threshold

## Overview

Manage multisig membership and approval thresholds using Config Transactions.

## Prerequisites

* Existing multisig
* `@sqds/multisig` package installed
* Member with Proposer permissions

## Quick Example

```typescript theme={null}
import * as multisig from "@sqds/multisig";
import { Connection, PublicKey } from "@solana/web3.js";

const { Permission, Permissions } = multisig.types;

const connection = new Connection("<your rpc url>", "confirmed");

// Change threshold config transaction
const ix = await multisig.instructions.configTransactionCreate({
  multisigPda,
  transactionIndex: newTransactionIndex,
  creator: member,
  actions: [{
    __kind: "ChangeThreshold",
    newThreshold: 3
  }],
});
```

## Config Transaction Actions

### Add Member

```typescript theme={null}
actions: [{
  __kind: "AddMember",
  newMember: {
    key: newMemberPublicKey,
    permissions: Permissions.all(),
  }
}]
```

### Remove Member

```typescript theme={null}
actions: [{
  __kind: "RemoveMember",
  oldMember: memberPublicKey
}]
```

### Change Threshold

```typescript theme={null}
actions: [{
  __kind: "ChangeThreshold",
  newThreshold: 3
}]
```

## Important Notes

* Config transactions that modify members, threshold, or time lock will invalidate all active transactions
* Multiple actions can be specified in a single config transaction
* For Controlled Multisigs (with Config Authority), use the [Controlled Multisig Instructions](/developers/typescript-sdk/instructions/controlled-multisig/add-member) instead
