# Controlled Multisig Instructions

## Overview

Instructions accessible only to multisigs with a Config Authority set. These allow the config authority to make configuration changes without going through the standard proposal process.

<Note>
  Most multisigs are not Controlled Multisigs. Only use these instructions if your multisig has a Config Authority set.
</Note>

## When to Use

For most multisigs, use [Config Transactions](/developers/typescript-sdk/instructions/create-config-transaction) to make configuration changes through the standard proposal and voting process.

Use Controlled Multisig instructions when:

* Your multisig has a Config Authority set
* You need direct admin control over configuration changes
* You want to bypass the proposal voting process for config changes
