Privacy mode restricts your Squad’s visibility so only members can view it through the Squads app. Non-members cannot see your Squad’s details, balances, or activity, even with a direct link. All onchain activity remains visible on block explorers regardless of this setting. Privacy mode controls visibility in the Squads interface only.

Enable or disable privacy

  1. Navigate to Settings
  2. Under the Security tab, find the Privacy section
  3. Toggle privacy on or off

Public Memos

The Public Memos toggle sits below Privacy in the Security tab. Turn it on to allow public read access to the offchain memos attached to your transactions. It is off by default, which restricts memos to authenticated member wallets. Public Memos can only be turned on when Privacy is off.

How it works

When privacy mode is active, members sign a message with their wallet to verify membership before viewing the Squad. A session token is stored in your browser for 24 hours, so you don’t need to re-sign on every visit. Switching devices or browsers requires signing again. Privacy mode is a front-end feature that does not trigger any onchain action. Toggling it on or off does not require a proposal or threshold approval. Every toggle is logged with the member’s address and timestamp, so you can track who changed the setting and when.
Why can any member toggle privacy without threshold approval?Privacy mode only controls visibility in the Squads app interface. It does not change any onchain state, so there is no proposal to sign. Every toggle is logged with the member’s address and timestamp for accountability.
