Sub-accounts let you organize assets within your Squad. Each sub-account has its own Solana address while sharing the same multisig security as your Squad. Use sub-accounts to separate funds by purpose, such as operations, marketing, grants, or investments.
Adding sub-accounts requires a Pro plan.

How sub-accounts work

Every Squad starts with one default sub-account. You can create additional sub-accounts to organize assets by category or team. Each sub-account:
  • Has its own unique Solana address for receiving deposits
  • Inherits your Squad’s threshold and member permissions
  • Tracks its own balance and proposal history

Create a sub-account

1

Open the treasury

Navigate to Treasury in the sidebar.
2

Start creating

Select Add account. If prompted, sign in with your wallet.
3

Name the sub-account

Under Title, enter a descriptive name of 3 to 50 characters (e.g., “Operations” or “Grants”).
4

Submit

Select Submit. The new sub-account is created right away and appears in your Treasury. No proposal is required.

Move assets between sub-accounts

1

Start a transfer

Navigate to Treasury, select Send, then choose Send between accounts. This option appears once your Squad has at least two sub-accounts.
2

Select the sub-accounts

Choose the sub-account holding the assets you want to move and the destination sub-account, then select Next.
3

Set the amount

Choose the token and enter the amount to transfer, then select Next.
4

Submit for approval

Review the details and select Initiate. Internal transfers require the same approval threshold as external transfers.

Which address to use

Your default sub-account address is the one to share for deposits. In the Squads app, this is labeled Squads Vault on the Settings page. For more on addresses, see Settings.
Never send assets to the Multisig Account address. Only sub-account addresses can receive and hold tokens.

Best practices

  • Name sub-accounts clearly. Use descriptive names so members know where to find and send funds.
  • Keep SOL in each sub-account. A sub-account pays costs that arise when a transaction executes, such as creating a recipient’s token account. Proposal fees are paid by the member’s wallet, or by the Squad when Fee Relayer is enabled.

Navigate to the sub-account and select the copy icon to get the correct address. Can I delete a sub-account?Sub-accounts cannot be deleted, but you can archive them. Transfer all assets out, then open the sub-account’s menu in Treasury and select Archive. Archived sub-accounts move to Archived accounts, where you can select Unarchive account to restore them. The same menu has Rename.
